    This past Sunday, 18 year old José Ernesto Ferreira da Silva was swimming at Praia de Piedade, in Jaboatão dos Guararapes when he was attacked by a shark. He had been swimming in a deeper area where signs had been posted warning of shark attacks. A 34 year old man had been bitten in the same location and had his leg and hand amputated as a result. The exact moment the lifeguard asked José to get out of the ocean is when he was attacked. The lifeguard jumps in to save him and pulls him out of the water where we can see how bad his injuries are. A large crowd gathers around and bystanders offer clothing to try to stop the bleeding. According to the hospital he was rushed to, part of his femur and penis were bitten off and he suffered two cardiac arrests while he was hospitalized. José went into surgery immediately where his leg was amputated to stop the bleeding however later that day while in the ICU he died from his injuries. This young kid took a risk ignoring the warning signs to swim in the sea and ended up paying with his life. It seems the da Silvas are doomed no matter what they encounter...
