Harris County deputies announced Tuesday the arrest of Anthony Valle

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas- A 43-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a teen girl last July in Atascocita, authorities say.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a burglary call on July 20 at a home located in the 19900 block of River Brooke Drive.

Anthony Valle, the homeowner, told deputies he shot the "intruder" who was identified as 14-year-old Layla Ann Ramos. She was pronounced dead at the scene with two gunshot wounds. Related: Mom says 14-year-old daughter was shot in NE Harris Co. home

Investigators have been watching Valle closely for four months since the murder. Saying now, they just didn't buy his version of the story.

Layla's mother, Alana Mock, insisted her daughter did not break in.

"He was promising her a car that night, so of course a 14-year-old is going to go over there and want a car," said her mom.

Grooming her she says for a relationship with clothes, money and drugs.

"Like they say what happens in the dark will come to light and it came to light," said Denise Gutierrez, her aunt.

Investigators believe Ramos is dead because she threatened to tell.

"It's like a nightmare everyday, a nightmare everyday," said Daniel Mock, her stepfather.

Now, four months after her death finally comes an arrest. This mom still can't believe he started out as a friendly neighbor.

"I just thought he was a good person and he did this to my daughter, he is a sick evil person. Just keep your kids close," she said.

Mock told us her daughter met this guy through his kids, who were around the same age. She believes that's how he lured her daughter into his home.

"Nothing is going to bring my daughter back, nothing is going to bring her back, he took her away from all of us," said Mock.

In a statement released Tuesday, HCSO wrote:

"Investigators also identified numerous inconsistencies in Valle’s statement. Investigators determined that Mr. Valle was involved in an inappropriate relationship with Ramos, to include drug use and possible sexual misconduct."

Investigators also say Layla threatened to report the sexual misconduct to authorities.

Valle is still in the process of being booked into the Harris County Jail. Court records show he is expected to appear before a judge on Thursday, Nov. 30.
